Investment Categories

We organize our 'Sustainability, Mission, and Social Investment' (SMSI) into four categories: Sustainability Investments, Mission Related Investments, Program Related Investments, and Social Component Investments. This enables us to develop appropriate processes and tools for each SMSI category including pipeline generation, deal analysis, monitoring and reporting. Investments which do not meet the SMSI criteria are referred to as Other Investments, our fifth category.

The sub pages of each investment category provide detailed definitions, an outline of the investment process, current evaluation tools, a description of current investments, and FAQs.

Raúl Pomares together with Doug Bauer of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and the KL Felicitas Foundation have developed tools to support the due diligence for each investment category. PDF versions of these tools are available on the sub pages and we encourage other social investors to take these tools and make them your own.
